AGYA presents the digital sound exhibiton
for their Conference

«Patterns and Structures»

To feature patterns and structures in the arts, AGYA member Dr. Matthias Pasdzierny and Sandra Passaro curated the Panel “The Sounds Of Science - Research and audio-visual art” and Passaro curated a video exhibition that explored realities of understanding patterns and structures from a scientific approach. These audio-visual soundscapes were presented in the newly created digital AGYA Liwan, a virtual space that simulates a conference venue and offers the opportunity to connect and engage in joint activities.
The AGYA Sound Exhibition consists of a selection of audio visual artworks carefully curated by Sandra Passaro. The videos showcase multidisciplinary sound research projects and experimental formats. The exhibition highlights patterns and structures at the intersections of sound, natural science and technology. The artistic research displayed offers an immersive audio-visual experience.
How can we listen to water, sand and space? How do plants, bacteria and viruses sound? How do the exhibiting artists perform sound experiments and attribute special relevance to their research results to trigger philosophical, ethical or political debate with their art? The audio-visual approach provides an opportunity to access research material from a different angle and invites the audience to develop fresh perspectives for interdisciplinary exchange.

ARTIST PRESENTATION

“The Sound Of Science - Research and audio-visual Art”

As an outstanding voice in transdisciplinary research Hyper Culture and Norient invited Dr. Sarmistha Talukdar to the exhibition’s public event. The Interview, “The Sounds of Science”, serves as an introduction to the production process of Dr. Talukdar’s sound art, which involves data sonification from her research of biological molecules. Dr. Talukdar will join the following Panel discussion with a contribution on Patterns & Structures in Music and Science.

with Dr. Sarmistha Talukdar (Department of Human and Molecular Genetics, Virginia Commonwealth University) moderated by AGYA Members Dr. Rami Chahin (Musicology, Oldenburg University School of Linguistics and Cultural Studies) and Dr. Matthias Pasdzierny (Musicology, University of Arts Berlin/BBAW).

PANEL DISCUSSION
